Director's notes
“...a wicked stepmother interpreted by a real actress and a tiny Snow White, life-size dwarves who appear suddenly from behind the stalls and then become minute on entering the ever-changing set which, opening like a magical treasure chest of the imagination, reveals hitherto hidden spaces, conceals tricks, repeatedly transforms the very idea of a stage, conjuring up heads, landscapes, real people and mysterious objects on a surreally large scale; the narrative material, subtly revealing its potential as a window onto realm of the unconscious, becomes a theatrical game that contrasts the different worlds created by actors and papier-mâché creatures, real people and huge or Lilliputian objects, material veracity and bodily fiction, the elementary nature of the word and the power of dramatic set pieces...”
