'Today I have been powerfully moved: not only by the wonderful vitality of the ideas underlying the performance and the truly remarkable handicraft of this talented company but also because this is form of theatre which has given me new production ideas, has made me long to experiment with other possibilities, and that is the highest form of praise for a theatrical performance.'
Jean-Pierre Vincent, Comèdie Française
'... Many years ago I was very struck by a production of the Trojans, with Maria Grazia Cipriani of the Teatro Del Carretto directing, that I saw in 1995 in Lucca. Cipriani struck me as a truly exceptional person: she invited me to attend a rehearsal and the experience was incredibly thrilling. She told me that she was not at all satisfied with her work: she was strict and felt that more could be done; she demanded a great deal both from herself and her actors. I, on the other hand, found it very impressive: indeed one of the most beautiful productions of the Trojans I have ever seen. I saw a performance some time later, by chance, in Rome: the staging was almost unbelievably - though marvellously - violent, unforgiving and cruel. I thought it wonderful. Productions of Trojans like this are very few and far between'
Edoardo Sanguineti
'... Aristocratic and popular: a rare hendyadis which is perfectly achieved in this performance by the Teatro Del Carretto. Apart from the stimulating vocal style chosen for the delivery of the text, the tightness of the plastic solutions and the gestures are striking, as are the markedly graphic setting and choreography, the extremely refined rendering of the critical moments of the plot...'
